Ken Palmer BA (Hons) PGCE Dip Counselling MBACP

Born in Plymouth, Ken Palmer grew up with a passion for astronomy and science before switching his studies to the Arts. After leaving Birmingham University with a degree in Drama and Theatre Arts, Ken helped set up a theatre company based in the Midlands; directing and acting in numerous plays.

After studying English and Education at Oxford University, he has spent much of the last thirty years working both in secondary schools and in higher education; in pastoral roles alongside teaching Drama and English. He has directed over 40 plays and musicals. He now runs a Drama School for young people in Oxford.

In the late 90’s Ken trained at Oxford Brooks in Psychodynamic Counselling and has practices in both London and Oxford. Although starting his professional therapy work in anxiety and depression with adolescents, he has moved towards a more integrative approach in the last 15 years, combining both Psychodynamic and Person Centred principles. More recently he completed 2 years studying Mindfulness based CBT at Oxford Brooks.

Ken still specialises in adolescence and young people as well as adult anxieties that centre around work related issues, relationships and seeking personal direction and meaning in ones life.

Matina started working in the NHS in 2000 and completed a top up Doctorate degree at City University of London in 2006. She has more than 17 years experience in senior positions within the NHS and private organisations. She is trained in the application of several therapeutic models and specialises in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and third wave CBT (e.g. mindfulness, acceptance commitment therapy).

She believes that peoples’ needs are very specific and cannot always be met by one therapeutic model. She would therefore always choose the best suited type of therapy according to their presenting problem and expectations from therapy in order to maximise their benefit.

She is involved in supervising trainees and qualified psychologists. Lauren has 15 years NHS experience working in busy primary care therapy teams. She is currently working in the Camden & Islington Personality Disorders service. Jennie completed her academic training at London Guildhall University and City University as well as Stockholm University (Sweden). In 2009 she completed a specialised training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) at the Institute of Psychiatry, London. She also supervises other therapists.

Jennie has been offering assessment and psychological therapy to adult clients since 2002. She is skilled and experienced in the treatment and management of mood (depression) and the anxiety disorders including panic disorder, generalised anxiety disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Sohila is a senior Chartered Counselling Psychologist with 25 years of experience working within adolescents, adult and older adult mental health services.

She has worked in many different settings, offering psychological intervention to individuals, couples, carers and families.

In her private practice, Sohila works with individuals presenting with mild to severe mental health difficulties, such as depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic disorder, psychosis, bipolar affective disorder, stress at work, relationship difficulties and bereavement and loss.
